OUR WORK

We advocate for the mainstreaming of disability in all policies, legislation and programs, thereby campaigning for the entrenchment of disability into existing and upcoming development frameworks, agendas and processes as directed by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), (2006). Such an endeavour does not mean adding separate disability policies, laws and programs, but it means integration of disability in existing and future mainstream frameworks. We also advocate for the design and implementation of targeted disability policies, laws and programs, thereby using a twin-track approach (mainstreaming disability and targeted disability initiatives). We therefore seek to combat inequality on the grounds of disability, thereby contributing to positive individual and societal change, in scenarios where persons with disabilities enjoy their full human rights in equality with all other citizens; we envisage a society which is fully accessible, supportive, and inclusive of persons with disabilities.

OUR CONSULTANTS

Our consultants are accomplished and widely recognized experts who include parents of children with disabilities and persons with and without disabilities - they are experienced practitioners from the public, private and development sectors; they are persons with advanced degrees across diverse disciplines that comprise a minimum of Masters’ Degrees including Masters Degrees in Disability Studies and who have wide experience of working with persons with disabilities across sectors. Some of our consultants, are “experts by experience” by virtue of them being persons with disabilities or caregivers, parents and guardians of persons with disabilities including children with disabilities. At DCFA, we promote a culture of diversity and collaboration, thereby developing fluid teams with the right balance of skills and backgrounds. We seek to offer quality service to our clients that include governments, United Nations (UN) Agencies, donors, community support organisations (CSOs), international and local non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sector, academia, media, independent Commissions and additional stakeholders not mentioned herein.
